President of the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association (JHTA), Wayne Cummings, says the time has come for a decision to be made on the legalisation of casino gambling.
Mr. Cummings says despite the many political and religious implications casino gambling has a lot to offer to the tourism industry and by extension Jamaica.
He argued that the new administration has to make a decision on the vexed issue.
"It is a proven fact that with casino gambling or gaming which ever word we prefer to couch it in with that comes the critical mass which you hear the government talking about which we desperately need," said Mr. Cummings.
"So while I understand, I am definitely making sure that we remain steadfast. Time has come, we have dilly-dallied on it for far too long and they need to make a decision. Will they make a decision is to be seen," he continued. |
