Jockey Tracy Hebert captures 3,000th career victory at Evangeline Downs

Opelousas, Louisiana :: Veteran reinsman Tracy Hebert recorded the 3,000th victory of his career in the 4th race, a $25,000 claiming event Wednesday evening at Evangeline Downs Racetrack and Casino. The 43 year-old native of Erath, La. rode My Foriels On to a 5 PI length victory in his only mount on the program.

After beginning his career in Louisiana in 1979, Hebert won riding titles in the 80's at Jefferson Downs & Delta Downs before relocating to Kentucky during the 1990 season. For the next decade he was one of the top riders on that circuit capturing leading rider titles at both Ellis Park and Turfway Park. Returning to his home state in 2003, Hebert now splits his time between the Fairgrounds & Louisiana Downs, where he is currently the 5th leading rider.

Despite the inclement weather, Hebert was joined in the winner's circle by his wife Angie and members of the Evangeline Downs Jockey colony. Also in the winner's circle making a presentation to Hebert in honor of his career milestone was Jason Boulet, Racing Secretary at Evangeline Downs.

Making her first start in a claiming race, My Foriels On, a Louisiana bred four-year-old daughter of My Mike, recorded her third lifetime victory in seventeen starts. Owned and bred by Mike Meeks, she is trained by Brian House and covered the seven furlongs on a sloppy track in 1:24 3/5.

Racing continues on a Wednesday thru Saturday schedule with a post time of 6:40 p.m. each evening.
