JOLIET — Illinois casinos in June continued to show year-to-year improvements in revenues, and Joliet casinos were ahead of the state pace.

The Empress Casino generated $20.6 million in June, a 9.3 percent increase from June 2005, according to the Illinois Gaming Board's monthly report released Monday.

Harrah's Joliet Casino & Hotel reported $27.5 million of revenue, an 8 percent increase from last year.

All nine Illinois casinos posted a 5.6 percent increase in revenue from June 2005. Total revenue was $152.4 million.

Illinois casinos revenues have been on an upward trend since the state cut back its top income tax rate a year ago.

Only Jumer's Casino Rock Island was down from June 2005, but the drop was less than 2 percent.

Month-to-month changes are more variable, depending on a number of factors including how many weekends fall in a particular month.

Illinois casino revenue was down 5.7 percent from May. The Empress was down 3.6 percent, and Harrah's was down 6.9 percent.
