KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- A casino that shut its doors four years ago will reopen in downtown Kansas City, Kan. on Thursday evening.
After years of court hearings, the 7th Street Casino was given the green light to begin operations. The Wyandotte Nation of Oklahoma Indian Tribe runs the facility.
In 2004, the National Indian Gaming Commission and then Attorney General Phill Kline ruled that the casino was operating illegally and seized 153 gambling machines and equipment.
It cost $21 million to get the business back on its feet. One new feature is a 1920s-themed restaurant called Lucky's Steak and Chophouse.
The three-story building houses about 400 gambling machines and will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The 7th Street Casino reopens at 6 p.m. |
