KANSAS CITY, Missouri -- As reported by the Kansas City Star: "Admissions fell again but casino revenues grew in August as the Kansas City area's four gambling parlors raked in $61.3 million.
"...Despite a 5.2 percent dip in admissions, to 1.9 million turnstile spins, market revenues were up 5.6 percent over August 2006. It was the area casino market's sixth-richest month ever.
"...Despite Isle of Capri Casino's accurate boast that it has the market's loosest penny and quarter slots, admissions and revenues continued to slide in August.
"Isle's revenues fell to $6.9 million and admissions to 267,000 — down 17.4 percent from last year — for the casino's weakest month this year.
"...Despite falling admissions, Ameristar Kansas City Casino and Hotel in August continued to pace the market with $21.8 million in revenue, up 8.8 percent over last August, and a 35.5 percent market share.
"...Statewide revenues at 11 casinos were up 3.2 per cent in August, to $134.8 million, while admissions fell 4.6 percent..." |
