Three companies have submitted proposals to the state to develop a casino in Wyandotte County, with at least a fourth expected by the Kansas Lottery Commission's Dec. 31 deadline.

Kansas Speedway and The Cordish Co. sent their proposal to the Kansas Lottery on Friday, as did Las Vegas-based Pinnacle Entertainment. Golden Gaming Casino Inc., another Las Vegas-based casino operator, submitted its casino proposal on Thursday.

The Lottery Commission has 90 days to review proposals that get submitted by New Year's Eve before forwarding a contract to the Gaming Facility Review Board. The whole process should take about five months.

Earlier this month, Wyandotte County municipalities endorsed four of the seven destination casino proposals they had received. The Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kan., approved three, and Edwardsville endorsed the Golden Gaming proposal.

The Lottery Commission has not received the proposal from Kansas City-based RED Development LLC, Connecticut-based Mohegan Sun and Las Vegas-based Olympia Gaming LLC.

Casino proposals for Sumner County are due Friday, and the deadlines for a casino in Crawford and Cherokee counties already have passed.

On Wednesday, Olathe-based Butler National Corp. was one of two companies that filed applications for a casino in Dodge City; Dodge City Resort & Gaming Co. was the other.
