Kathy Liebert, an amazing poker player, and a pioneer amongst women in the gambling industry!

Leibert began her poker career playing Low Limit ring style poker in Colorado, soon after, she followed a friends advice and became a professional prop poker player, while playing in some tournaments. Kathy made a name for herself in the poker world when she won the first ever Party Poker Million.

Kathy Liebert became the first woman to win a million dollars in a poker tournament. She did not actually take home a million dollars however, a final table deal was made amongst Liebert, Kacherian and Phil Hellmuth, leaving Kathy half a million dollars, I think I could live with that.

Born in Tennessee, and raised in Long Island, New York, Kathy often played low stakes poker games with her family as a little girl. Leiber later graduated from Marist College located in Poughkeepsie, New York with a B.S. Degree in Business and Finance.

Kathy made use of her degree as an employee of Dunn and Bradstreet, she was good at the job, and did well, but wasn't really into it, she just didn't much care for the work. About a year after she started Leibert quit her job with Dunn and Bradstreet to do some traveling.

Settling later in California, Leibert did some gambling in Vegas, looks like she was pretty good at it, and a friend suggested she become a prop player. Liking the idea Kathy became a prop player for a small cardroom. Props are responsible for their own gambling expenses, but generally paid by the hour in land based casinos, sometimes by the hand online. Kathy was paid to sit wherever a player or some new action was required.

Kathy Leibert won her first World Series of Poker bracelet in the 2004 Limit Hold’em shootout, and is currently ranked in the top ten for female money finishers in the World Series of Poker. Kathy now makes her home Downey California, and in Las Vegas.
