L’Auberge du Lac To Host A Night Of Boxing In Event Center; Fighters Joe Mesi and Raphael Pedro Square Off For United States WBC Heavyweight Title
Event tickets on sale today; press conference and weigh-in for boxing matches scheduled for June 1 in Jack Daniel’s® Bar & Grill
LAKE CHARLES, La. — L’Auberge du Lac Hotel & Casino, a $370 million Texas Hill Country-themed resort in Lake Charles, La., will play host to a night of exciting boxing. One main bout and five additional undercard bouts, including one female bout, are scheduled for Saturday, June 2.
The main event features fighter Raphael Pedro versus Joe Mesi. Pedro, known as The Cajun Connection, is from Golden Meadows, La. The Cuban born fighter has 20 wins, including five TKO’s, and five losses.
Mesi hails from Buffalo, Ny. Since turning pro, he has won 34 straight bouts, including 27 TKO’s. He was an alternate in the 1996 US Olympic Games and has set a personal goal to become the heavyweight champ of the world like his idol before him, Rocky Marciano (www.babyjoemesi.com ).
Among the secured undercard fights is a bout between Christy Martin and Amy Yuratovic. Martin has 46 wins and five losses, 31 by TKO. Yuratovic has five wins, all by TKO, and no losses.
Boxing at L’Auberge will take place in the L’Auberge Event Center on Saturday, June 2 at 7:30 p.m.; doors open one hour before the show. Tickets are priced at $75 for ringside seats and $50 for stadium seating ($10 discount to L’Club members). Tickets go on sale Friday, April 20.
A press conference and official weigh-in will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 1 at Jack Daniel’s® Bar & Grill. Pedro, Mesi and other fighters will be on hand and available for interviews and photos.
