Police objections have prompted Alice Springs' Lasseters Hotel Casino to withdraw its application for a licence extention to cover its outdoor areas.
The company had wanted to have the licence permanently extended so it could sell alcohol at outdoor conventions and events.
Lasseters' manager Michael Lucas says it has reviewed its decision and withdrawn the application following advice from the Licencing Commission.
"We've got to uphold a responsibility to the community," he said.
"I suppose it allows us and licencing in the future when we do put in for requests for outdoor events that they be looked at on a one-on-one basis.
"We thought their argument was pretty reasonable."
