Legislative committee holds hearing on casino slot fund bills
HARTFORD – The legislature’s Appropriations Committee is holding public hearings this afternoon on three bills that, if enacted, could increase revenues for area communities.
Two of the three bills call for a redistribution of the casino slot funds, providing more of the money generated each year to cities and towns, with a specific earmark for eastern Connecticut communities.
The third proposed bill would make tribal-owned lands taken into trust eligible for PILOT fund reimbursements.
Norwich City Manager Bob Zarnetske is among those scheduled to testify today on behalf of the bills. The hearing began at 1 p.m. at the Legislative Office Building at the state Capitol. |
