Local Food Bank Receives a 10,000 Pound Food Donation

Harrah’s and Horseshoe team members rally together to make a difference.

(BOSSIER CITY, LA.) –Believe it or not, one dollar can provide food to feed an average family of six. Harrah’s Louisiana Downs and Horseshoe Casino and Hotel team members have decided to go above and beyond by donating 10,000 pounds of canned foods to the Northwest Louisiana Food Bank.

Tyson Foods, on behalf of Harrah’s and Horseshoe has donated 5 cases of chicken and five cases of fish to this worthy cause. The Northwest Louisiana Food Bank distributes approximately three and a half million pounds of food to 150 non-profit agencies, including pantries, kitchens and shelters. They also serve about 1,700 seniors in the Northwest Louisiana area. Most of the donations from this canned food drive are going to the senior box program.

This “is the absolute largest donation from a corporation” since the opening of the food bank, said Jim Presson, Executive Director of the Northwest Louisiana Food Bank. With a grand total of 15,051 items donated this was truly “an amazing food drive,” said Presson. “Harrah’s and Horseshoe team members are always thrilled and ready to provide support to our local citizens when a need arises,” said Erika Roberts, Director of Regional Communications. Harrah’s and Horseshoe H.E.R.O.
