Lotto Luck Lives in Elgin Platform PR 12/09/2006 A 45-year-old self-employed man from Elgin is thanking his lucky stars for a second time, after scooping £93,671 on Lotto, just over a year after winning £105,000 at his local bingo club. Ronnie Clayton used numbers based on the addresses of houses where his mother’s family have lived to scoop his prize, matching five numbers and the bonus ball in last Wednesday’s (6 September 2006) Lotto draw. Ronnie could not believe history was repeating itself when he checked his numbers on Teletext late on Wednesday night to discover he was one of eight lucky winners to have matched five numbers plus the bonus ball. He explained: “I got home very late on Wednesday and was just relaxing before going to bed. I decided to check the Lotto numbers and initially thought I had matched five. When I realised I had the bonus ball too I thought I had probably won a nice prize of around £1,500 but I couldn’t believe it was more than £93,000!” Ronnie is determined to keep his feet on the ground. Rather than splashing out on extravagances such as cars or holidays, he plans on using his unexpected windfall to enter the world of property investment. Ronnie is also planning on helping out his nephews who tragically lost their mother, Ronnie’s sister Edna, to a heart attack recently. Ronnie said: “My friends know that money won’t change me. I’ll continue playing Lotto and going to the bingo because I enjoy it. It’s sad to think that my good fortune has come too late for my sister, mother and father to share but I’m thankful for it and will invest it wisely”. The winning Lotto numbers on Wednesday 6 September were: 05, 07, 14, 29, 37, 38 and the bonus ball was 12. Ronnie matched all of these except 29. Ronnie bought the winning ticket at Premier Stores, Reidhaven Square, Keith, while driving to Aberdeen. This Wednesday (13 September), there is an estimated £2.6 million Lotto jackpot and a massive estimated £24 million EuroMillions jackpot is up for grabs on Friday (15 September).
