As if it is not bad enough that a man from Gold Coast city in Queensland state lost over $26 million gambling in an Australian casino, the man is making matters worse by suing the casino for the money he lost.

Harry Kakavas, a property manager who is 40 years old has spent the better part of his life becoming a problem gambler. Now, after bottoming out, he has decided to go after money he lost at one of his favorite casinos.

He claims in his lawsuit that he told the casino in question, Crown Casino, to ban him from entering the casino because his gambling losses had gotten too substantial. This was back in 1994.

In 2004, the casino reportedly starting enticing the gambler back when they found out that he was taking trips out to Las Vegas to gamble. Crown started by giving the man over 30 free flights to the casino, as well as 20 percent back on his losses.

The addicted gambler eventually broke down and went back to the casino and lost the $26 million in a 14 month gambling spree.

The two views of the case could not be any more different. The defense lawyer, Jeff Sher, said, "You should be responsible for your own actions, don't blame anybody else."

Kakavas' lawyer, Cliff Pannam paints a different picture, "They deliberately set out to identify a punter they knew they could win large sums of money from."

A two day preliminary hearing ends on Wednesday. The reason for the hearing is Crown Casino is trying to have the suit rejected by Justice David Harper without having to go to a trial.
