SALT RIVER COMMUNITY - Friday was the luckiest day of Mike Ramirez Jr.'s life.
The Phoenix resident was at Casino Arizona in Scottsdale when he hit a $1,346,971 Wheel of Fortune MegaJackpot on a $1 machine.
The jackpot is the largest to date during the "Year of Luck" at Casino Arizona, at Loop 101 and McKellips Road. It also was one of the largest Wheel of Fortune progressive network payouts in the state. advertisement
Ramirez, an interior designer installer, said he is a regular at the casino and went that day because he wanted to relax. Ramirez said he was drawn to the winning machine because of its color and theme.
"I am very patriotic and like the red, white and blue of the Wheel of Fortune," he said. "I plan to use my winnings to invest in real estate."
Ramirez had put $100 into the machine before he won the top progressive prize.
David Vandiver, director of slot operations for Casino Arizona, said, "Mr. Ramirez's recent $1.3 million jackpot is evidence that the 'Year of Luck' is in full swing at Casino Arizona and that our reputation for awarding the largest payouts in the state continues to manifest on the slot floor."
The Casino Arizona location at Loop 101 and Indian Bend Road in Scottsdale was the site of the largest jackpot ever won in the state on all progressive systems, $5.7 million on May 2, 2001. |
