A COUPLE who vowed to continue working at McDonald's despite winning £1.3m on the Lottery have quit their jobs.
Colleagues at the fast-food chain's Pontprennau branch, in Cardiff, confirmed that Luke Pittard and Emma Cox had now handed in their notice. The couple, who met at the drive-through, hit the jackpot four months ago. They still lived with their parents at the time and said they planned to spend some of the cash on a house where they could live with two-year-old daughter Chloe.
Mr Pittard, 23, said at the time, "We're going to carry on working. It's an enjoyable job. They treat us really well."
But the former staff trainer, who earned £5.60 an hour, was yesterday reported as saying, "To be honest, it wasn't much fun any more. We said we'd keep our jobs, but there's no point earning £6 an hour when you've got more than £1m in the bank. We may look for jobs after Christmas, but at the moment we're loving being parents."
Ms Cox, 28, who earned £6.28 an hour as an area manager, added that the win meant they could now go through life without worrying about money.
