Louisville, Kentucky (November 23, 2007) --
Patrick Henry Hughes – an accomplished trumpeter and member of the University of Louisville Marching and Pep Band, whose family will be featured during an upcoming episode of ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” – will join Churchill Downs bugler Steve Buttleman in playing the “Call to the Post” prior to the Grade II Kentucky Jockey Club (Race 11) on Saturday, Nov. 24, closing day at the historic racetrack.
Hughes and his family will also present the trophy to the winner of the eighth race on the card, named the “Patrick Henry Hughes March to Winner’s Circle.” Both the trophy presentation and the special “Call to the Post” will take place in Churchill Downs “every day” winner’s circle, located between Sections 118 and 119 of the clubhouse.
In addition, Churchill Downs is offering free admission on closing day to all “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” volunteers as thanks for their hard work on the Hughes family home. Volunteers simply need to wear their “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” volunteer T-shirts (royal blue T-shirts with gold “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” logo on the back) in order to gain free admission to the track on Nov. 24.

As part of the television production, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” host Ty Pennington and his team of design experts were at Churchill Downs Nov. 8, taping segments for the show, which is tentatively scheduled to air in February 2007.
