Miss Mary Pat wins Silver Spur at Lone Star Park
GRAND PRAIRIE – Miss Mary Pat overtook Waterloo Slew in the stretch for a half-length victory in the $65,000 Silver Spur Breeders' Cup at Lone Star Park. Gallant Dreamer was third in the six-furlong stakes race for 2-year-old fillies. Miss Mary Pat, ridden by Quincy Hamilton, won $50,000 for Heiligbrodt Racing Stable and Millennium Farms. She is trained by Scott Blasi.
Nobodywantmetilnow, with Glen Murphy up, rallied six-wide into the stretch and closed strongly for a one-length win over Cajole in the $40,000 Bob Johnson Memorial Stakes for 3-year-olds and older. Waupaca and Saturday Deelites were caught in the mile race on the turf and wound up third and fourth. Trainer Donnie Von Hemel got the win for owners Arthur and Mary Bauer and Steve Robbins.
