The MotorCity Casino will shut its doors for 6= hours Tuesday morning while utility lines are tied into the casino's $300 million expansion project that includes a 400-room hotel and entertainment center.

The 75,000-square-foot casino, at the corner of Grand River Avenue and the Lodge Expressway just north of the downtown area, will close from 1:30 a.m. to about 8 a.m. on Tuesday.

The MotorCity management will take advantage of the shutdown to conduct routine electrical maintenance on the building.

The casino is owned by Detroit Entertainment L.L.C. with the sole owner Marian Ilitch, whose family owns Little Caesars, The Detroit Tigers, the Detroit Red Wings and other downtown Detroit developments.
