A plot to kill the owner of Amateur Poker Tour was prevented by investigators in Colorado, USA last week. According to the Colorado Bureau for Investigation, the plan to kill Matthew Sowash stemmed from an investment of $60,000 into the poker business.
Herbert Paul Beck and Christopher Lee Steelman allegedly hatched the plot after Beck did not recover the funds that he had invested. Amateur Poker Tour contracted bars to play poker tournaments, and was under investigation for possible illegal activity in the form of charged entry fees.
Whilst investigating the business, the Colorado Bureau for Investigation uncovered the murder plot, involving rattlesnakes. Although it did not go ahead, both offenders will be charged.
Steelman was charged with one count of conspiracy to kidnap, one count of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, and extortion last Tuesday. Beck was arrested in New Mexico last week and will be extradited to Colorado for sentencing.
