My husband had to go to Kansas City frequently a few years ago for business and we would go to the casinos there. The one thing that struck me odd was you HAD to get a player's card. If you didn't insert that into the slots, they wouldn't work. I always thought of the player's card as something to get points for and to win prizes, but from what I understand in MO, they do that so if you reach a certain amount each day (cannot remember what it is - maybe $500), then you cannot play anymore.

Does anyone know the exact rule and if any other states do this? None of the ones I've ever been to have required you to put the card into the slot to play.

If you like videogames, come see me at Gaming Evolved Forum (I'm Eyes Only over there too)

Here is the rule:

Definition of the $500 Loss Limit: Under Missouri Law, casino gamblers can lose up to $500 every two hours. If a gambler loses $500 before the two hours are up, he/she must stop gambling. When the two hour time period has passed, they are free to lose another $500. This allows a gambler to lose $6,000 per day, $42,000 per week in Missouri casinos.

Hopefully that answers your question. The rule is currently being challenged and may be changed eventually. I can see where it may be helpful to some people who are out of control. But it's still allowing a $6,000 a day loss. If anyone is losing that much money in one day, they may have a serious problem

Thanks for the info! It just annoyed me to put my card in every time. I know it can be beneficial to the player, but we were only there once every blue moon and would only spend about $100 each. And like you said, losing $6,000 a day or $42,000 a week doesn't seem like a whole lot of help!
