State lottery officials say a number of lottery prizes have gone unclaimed in the months since North Carolina started its games. That includes two Powerball tickets worth $200,000 that were sold since the multi-state game became available here.

State lottery officials say they expect as much as $9 million worth of prizes will go unclaimed over the next year. They say that's normal -- the industry has an average of 1-2 percent of prize money that's never collected.
