RALEIGH, N.C. A Superior Court judge heard arguments privately today about the constitutionality of the state's video poker ban.
The North Carolina Amusement Machine Association, many of its member companies and some players sued two weeks ago. They question the constitutionality of the law that the General Assembly approved in June.
They have asked Wake County Judge Narley Cashwell to issue a temporary restraining order blocking its enforcement until the lawsuit is heard in court.
The machine operators want the order before Sunday. That's when the law requires the number of machines in operation at any location be reduced to two from three. That number will drop to one by March First and zero by July First. |
