The tribe, located in McCloud, Oklahoma, is 20 miles east of Oklahoma City. Immediate plans include a $28 million expansion of their existing property, with future plans to include a full-service luxury resort including 2,000 slot machines, eight restaurants, a hotel and spa. The project's estimated completion date is the last quarter of 2008.
"We are honored to welcome the Ellis Gaming Group into our family; they have proven to be both honorable and educated business professionals," said Tony Salazar, Chairman of the Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma. "We look forward to a strong partnership in the future."
"Through our dedication to the tribe and their property, we will implement a training program which allows the employees to develop useful leadership skills that will enhance the property's success," said Rick Richards, Chief Operating Officer for Ellis Gaming.
Tribal Governmental gaming generated revenue of approximately $20 billion in 2004. There are 354 Tribal Governmental gaming operations in the United States, in which 30 of those are under management contracts.
