Gambling news from http://www.krqe.com/ WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. -- The Navajo Nation Council has taken a step today toward making casino gambling a reality on the Navajo reservation. The council voted during a special session to create the first Navajo Gaming Enterprise. That agency would handle gambling businesses for the Navajo Nation. The legislation had to pass by a two-thirds majority of the council, which it did 76-3. Navajo President Joe Shirley Junior has entered into an agreement with a hospitality firm to look at options for developing a casino in Navajo, Ariz., on Interstate 40 about 55 miles west of Gallup.
