The new Four Winds Casino will open near New Buffalo on Thursday, and the city is getting ready.

The casino is expected to bring a lot of money into the surrounding area, as well as draw more people to the tourist town.

One resident says the casino will be good for the community, but will possibly draw in some unwanted problems.

Travis Skora says, "It will bring a lot of money into the town which can be used for the roads around which are not too good and maybe bring in a couple of other store. But the trade off of that is more crime, more people and the backed up traffic on the little two lane road here."

New Buffalo Police Chief Larry Pitchford says, "It's like anything else, you get that many more people, there's going to be that many more issues. Unfortunately not all of our guests will be coming without checkered histories."

Just last year, the city added an officer and there are talks of adding two more.

Police will also be stepping up the police presence around the town once the casino opens on Thursday.[quote]
