The Northwest Indiana Times is reporting that planned renovations to the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond will not be affected by this week's shutdown of casinos in New Jersey.
Officials for Harrah's Entertainment, which operates the Hammond casino, say the company still expects to have a new Horseshoe vessel built by the announced target of summer 2008.
The $485 million renovation project was announced in April. The new vessel will include a 170,000-square-foot gambling floor, doubling the amount of space for slot machines and table games.
Three Harrah's properties in Atlantic City were closed Wednesday because of state budget negotiations.
