LEWISTON, IDAHO (AP) -- Cherries and lemons were flashing on slot screens and the sound of coins collecting could be heard bouncing off the brand new walls of the Clearwater River Casino Friday.

About 100 people turned out for the ribbon-cutting ceremony on the Nez Perce Tribe's new casino.

The gambling hall is four miles east of Lewiston on US Highway 12. It's 80,000-square-feet and features more than 600 slot machines.

The new casino also has separate nonsmoking and smoking pits, divided by a restaurant and gift shop.

A three-story, 50-room hotel is still under construction at the site.

Tribal officials say they are thrilled the new casino, 10 years in the making, is finally open.

Cool! My in-laws live in Grangeville, ID and Lewiston is the closest "big" town, so when we visit, we usually go to Lewiston. I remember passing a casino there before, but we never stopped...hum, wonder if that was the old Nez Perce casino?
