NORRIS OUT A MONTH
MEADOW LANDS, PA, Oct. 27, 2007 - Trainer/driver Charlie Norris, injured in an Oct. 17 race mishap at The Meadows, likely will miss a month while he recuperates from a separated AC joint in his right shoulder.
Norris also suffered bruised ribs in the accident. He said he's begun a home exercise regimen to supplement three-times-a-week therapy and that he's keeping the injured arm in a sling as a precautionary measure.
Norris, 44, long has been considered a top conditioner and driver of trotters. At one time, The Meadows' track record of 1:54.3 for aged trotters was shared by two horses - Tiff Tuff Tag (2003) and Golly Too (1996); Norris piloted both to their record miles.
In 2003, Norris suffered a compound fracture of the left ankle when a yearling he was jogging careened head-on into a light standard in a morning workout at The Meadows.
