Nov. 24 Jon Secada Concert to Cap LITE FM’s “Let It Snow” Holiday Festival

As a culmination to 101.5 LITE FM’s annual “Let It Snow” holiday celebration, Gulfstream Park will host a charity concert featuring Latin singer and heartthrob Jon Secada Saturday, Nov. 24.

Tickets start at $20 and are on sale at Gulfstream Park’s North Box Office (954-457-6201) and online at www.gulfstreampark.com.

A portion of the ticket proceeds will benefit the Mount Sinai Medical Center Foundation.

The day’s festivities begin 1 p.m. with LITE FM’s Let It Snow. Gulfstream Park’s landmark location will be transformed into a “winter wonderland” carnival setting with two bounce houses, arts-and-crafts booths for children, a wellness area staffed by health professionals including representatives from Mount Sinai Medical Center, and 101 tons of real snow.

Mr. Secada will join LITE FM on-air personalities Susan Wise, Ellen Jaffe and Jeff Martin for a live broadcast.

LITE FM’s Let It Snow celebration is free from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m., but to enter guests must register online at LiteMiami.com.

From 5 to 6 p.m. there will be a Christmas tree and Menorah lighting ceremony and Mr. Secada will take the walking-ring stage at 6 p.m.

Mr. Secada has become a superstar in both English and Spanish – a Latin and American pop idol who has sold well over 20 million albums.

His talents as a singer, composer, producer and arranger were discovered by Gloria and Emilio Estefan. The rest, as they say, is history: He co-wrote and sang backup on six songs on Gloria’s multi-platinum 1991 album Into the Light – including the No. 1 hit "Coming out of the Dark" – and sang backup on her subsequent tour.

In 1992 Mr. Secada’s self-titled debut album sold over six million copies – an extraordinary number for a new artist – and charted four Billboard singles including "Just Another Day," "Angel," "Do You Believe in Us" and "I'm Free." The Spanish version was Billboard's Latin Album of the Year in 1992 and won a Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album.

His second English album, 1994’s Heart, Soul & a Voice includes the smash hit single "If You Go” and sold over one million copies in its first year. Later that year he released the Spanish language version of the album.

Mr. Secada also scored another Grammy Award in 1996 for Best Latin Pop Performance with his song “Amor.”

This month he will launch his CD Christmas Fiesta.
