Macao's gaming industry logged 45,033 employees in the second quarter, seeing a remarkable year-on-year rise of 50.1 percent, according to official statistics issued on Thursday.
The figures released by the government-run Statistics and Census Services (SCS) showed that gaming employees represented 14. 7 percent of the city's total laborforce in the quarter.
The SCS dues the booming of the gaming workforce mainly to the opening of several gigantic casinos since the second half of 2006.
Casino croupiers, which does not require high education background, correspond 38.4 percent of the gaming staff, the SCS figures showed.
Macao, a city with a population of 528,000, currently has 27 casinos under operation. |
