Online Poker: 5902838181 Wins $196,244 at Sunday Million
PearlJammer Takes Down the Bodog $100,000 Guarantee and THE__D__RY Almost Seals the Deal at Full Tilt

5902838181 makes a flush on the river to draw out on Professor122 and eliminate him from the tournament.

PokerStars Sunday Million

The PokerStars Sunday Million had 6,959 entrants last night, which built a prize pool of $1,391,800. That attendance was down from last weekend’s 7,054 entrants, but the drop was not significant. The first-place finisher stood to earn $196,000 for his trouble.

When it got down to the final nine players, 5902838181 had the chip lead with $12.8 million in chips. Tecknowledgy was in second place with $8.5 million and notable Internet player EC10 was in third place with $7.9 million. Professor122 was bringing up the rear at $3.3 million in chips, but he avoided being the first player eliminated.

In the first elimination hand, 20 minutes into the final table action, Ann Karen raised to $1.4 million, with the big blind at $400,000, and 5902838181 raised to $8.8 million. Ann Karen called all in for $5.4 million total and showed pocket jacks. She was behind when 5902838181 turned over pocket queens for a dominating lead. The board ran dry for Ann Karen and she was out in ninth place, earning $8,212.

In the very next hand, lostremote open-pushed all in preflop for $3 million and was called by EC10, who revealed A J. EC10 was dominating lostremote’s A 8 as the board paired but otherwise completely bricked out. Lostremote collected $12,526 for his eighth-place finish.

It was finally Professor122’s time to go just three minutes later. 5902838181 raised to $2.8 million preflop when the action folded to him in the small blind and Professor122 reraised all in over the top for $4.3 million. 5902838181 called and showed Q 10 and was in bad shape versus Professor122’s K Q. The flop came J 9 6, giving 5902838181 an open-end straight draw, but the turn and river were the 4 and 2, giving him a queen-high flush, instead, to take down the hand. Professor122’s bad beat sent him back to the books in seventh place with $21,573.

It was only four minutes before yet another elimination hand. Infitilt open-pushed all in preflop for $7.1 million, with the big blind now at $500,000, and 5902838181 called and flipped up pocket sevens. The sevens were leading against Infitilt’s A 6 as the board ran out 10 5 4 9 3, leaving Infitilt unimproved and out in sixth ($30,620). 5902838181 became a massive chip leader at $34.9 million after the hand. His next-closest rival, EC10, had just $12.6 million.

EC10 wasn’t even that close for long. He lost a few moderately sized pots and then called when Tecknowledgy pushed all in as the short stack. Tecknowledgy held pocket tens versus EC10’s Q-J and the board failed to pull EC10 into the lead. He was left with less than 10 times the big blind after the hand.

In the very next hand, EC10 pushed all in for $4.1 million when action folded to him in the small blind, and princess13 called and flipped up J 10. EC10 was slightly ahead preflop with K 5 until the flop came K J 10. EC10 had top pair, but princess13 had two pair for the lead. The turn was the 10, giving princess13 a full house, and EC10 was drawing dead and out in fifth place ($41,754).

Princess13 didn’t last too much longer; she was the next to go. She pushed all in preflop for $7.5 million and chipsncheese called and showed A 8. Princess13 was dominated holding A 7 and the flop left her drawing dead when it came K 10 6, giving chipsncheese the nut flush. Princess13 earned a $55,672 payday for fourth place.

Tecknowledgy was out in the very next hand. He went down to the felt preflop for $5.9 million, with the big blind at $600,000, and 5902838181 ($40.3 million) called and showed K 10. Tecknowledgy was trailing with 9 8 as the board ran out J 5 3 5 K, giving 5902838181 an unneeded two pair, kings up, to take down the pot. Tecknowledgy pocketed $69,590 for third place.

It was now heads up and 5902838181 was sitting pretty with $46.4 million in chips versus chipsncheese’s $23.2 million. A big hand took place just a few hands into the match when 5902838181’s counterfeited two pair was beaten by chipsncheese’s full house. Chipsncheese took over the chip lead with the $20 million pot. The lead swapped hands again just a minute later when 5902838181 bet chipsncheese out of a pot on the turn on a board showing A 8 7 Q and collected yet another $20 million pot, and the stacks were virtually back to where they started in the match.

5902838181 then made a great call on the river of a board reading Q 8 5 Q 5 and showed K 8 to beat out chipsncheese’s counterfeited two pair with pocket threes. The hand left chipsncheese crippled with just $7.6 million, but he doubled up a few times until he was back at $24.6 million before the final hand.

5902838181 raised to $3.2 million preflop, with the big blind now at $800,000, and chipsncheese reraised to $7.2 million. 5902838181 reraised yet again to $18.4 million and chipsncheese pushed all in for $24.5 million. 5902838181 called and showed K J and was in a race versus chipsncheese’s pocket sixes. The flop was scary for chipsncheese when it came A Q 3, meaning that any king, jack, or 10 would likely be enough to eliminate him. The J came on the turn and 5902838181 pulled into the lead in the hand. The river was the 3 and chipsncheese was out in second place, earning $98,818. 5902838181 raked in the final pot to pocket the full $196,244 first-place prize.

The final results were:

1) 5902838181 - $196,243.80
2) chipsncheese - $98,817.80
3) Tecknowledgy - $69,590
4) princess13 - $55,672
5) EC10 - $41,754
6) Infitilt - $30,619.60
7) Professor122 - $21,572.90
8) lostremote - $12,526.20
9) Ann Karen - $8,211.62

Full Tilt $500,000 Guarantee

The Full Tilt $500,000-guaranteed tournament was the only of four tournaments in this recap to see an increase in attendance this week when 3,446 entrants bought in compared to two weeks ago (last week was the monthly $1 million guarantee) when the same tournament had just 3,008 entrants. The high attendance this weekend brought the total prize pool to a whopping $689,200, which offered a first-place prize of $123,000.

Prominent Internet poker pro Danny “THE__D__RY” Ryan made the final table of the event as the chip leader with $3.1 million in chips. He was up against the second-place stack of $1.7 million held by SlyTony. THE__D__RY and SlyTony made it to threehanded play along with gigjoesmoe.

When three-way play began, the stacks were virtually equal. Gigjoesmoe held a slim lead with $3.58 million in chips, while SlyTony was in second with $3.56 million, and THE__D__RY was in third with $3.20 million. The big blind was at $160,000, which left a decent amount of wiggle-room. Despite the extra play afforded by the blind structure, it was just two minutes before the first elimination of threehanded play.

Gigjoesmoe ($4.1 million) raised to $620,000 preflop on the button and SlyTony reraised all in for $2.7 million in the small blind, folding THE__D__RY. Gigjoesmoe called and revealed pocket fives and was in a coin-flip situation versus SlyTony’s Q 10. The flop ran out 10 7 5, giving SlyTony a pair of tens but improving gigjoesmoe to a commanding set of fives. The turn was the 4 and the river the now irrelevant Q and SlyTony was out in third place, for $48,933.

Gigjoesmoe now had almost $7 million in his stack compared to THE__D__RY’s $3.4 million. Heads-up play lasted just five minutes before the final hand. Gigjoesmoe open-pushed all in preflop for $7.95 million, when the big blind was still at $160,000. THE__D__RY hesitated for quite some time, requesting extra time for thought. All the while, gigjoesmoe goaded him on by saying, “Call. Let’s go. Call.” THE__D__RY finally said, “[Good luck] sir” and called, showing pocket threes. Gigjoesmoe revealed a dominating pocket sixes as the board ran out Q J 7 9 6, giving gigjoesmoe an unneeded set of sixes to eliminate THE__D__RY in second place. THE__D__RY earned $75,123 for his finish, while gigjoesmoe landed himself a $123,401 payday for first place.

The final results were:

1) gigjoesmoe - $123,401.26
2) Danny “THE__D__RY” Ryan - $75,122.80
3) SlyTony - $48,933.20
4) Skinken - $38,250.60
5) BigBuxNoWhammy - $28,601.80
6) bdubs3737 - $21,158.44
7) NOXQZEZ - $15,851.60
8) Zeratul - $12,405.60
9) cra97 - $9,235.28

UltimateBet $200,000 Guarantee

The UltimateBet $200,000-guaranteed tournament had 965 entrants on Sunday, still respectably high, but down from last Sunday’s 998. The tournament required a $7,000 overlay to match the posted guarantee.

Midora was the chip leader when the final table began, with $496,000, and G0 F1SH was close behind at $488,000 when the big blind was at $6,000. However, neither player would make it to three-way play. Midora lost much of his stack very early when he called F4Zi’s all in on a board of J 8 2 Q and showed 10 7. F4Zi held K Q for a pair of queens and the lead, and doubled up with another queen on the river. Midora was then eliminated in eighth place ($5,000) when he got all in preflop with K-2 against harrington25 (who was also all in, for more) with K-5 and G0 F1SH with pocket jacks, and the jacks held up.

G0 F1SH lasted longer, but was eliminated in fourth place when he pushed all in preflop with A-9 and was called by F4Zi with A-10. The 10 kicker played and G0 F1SH took home $13,000.

Knet_poker had the chip lead as threehanded play began. He had $1.2 million, while F4Zi was sitting with $720,000 in second place, and dangdokodang (a previous winner of the PokerStars Sunday Million) was holding $511,000 in third place. F4Zi took a large chunk of knet_poker’s stack in a hand that never saw a flop. Dangdokodang then took his turn at knet_poker’s stack when he pushed all in preflop and knet_poker called and showed pocket eights. Dangdokodang held pocket tens as the board ran out A Q 2 A 10, giving him a full house to double up and leave knet_poker with less than 10 big blinds in his stack.

Knet_poker was eliminated shortly thereafter when he pushed all in preflop from the small blind and F4Zi called and showed K 5. Knet_poker held 8 3 and was behind. The board ran out A 9 6 6 J and F4Zi eliminated knet_poker in third place ($18,000).

Truth be told, the remainder of the tournament was quite boring. F4Zi had $1.5 million versus dangdokodang’s $920,000 and the two both sat out of the tournament and swapped blinds while they hashed out a deal. The two finally agreed upon a straight chop, with each player receiving $35,750. Because UltimateBet doesn’t officially support dealmaking, the two arranged a money transfer process using their accounts on Full Tilt and sat out for almost 30 minutes while the money went through. Once that was done, F4Zi sat in and stole dangdokodang’s blinds until he won the tournament. Since there is no way of knowing for sure that the deal truly went as planned, the official results must be relayed as UltimateBet presented them.

The official final results were:

1) F4Zi - $45,000
2) dangdokodang - $26,500
3) knet_poker - $18,000
4) G0 F1SH - $13,100
5) Jay_Fiedler - $10,500
6) Monster Kill - $8,500
7) harrington25 - $6,500
8) midora - $4,500
9) 135565 - $3,400
10) royo1 - $2,000

Bodog $100,000 Guarantee

The Bodog $100,000-guaranteed tournament had 887 entrants last night, down from the previous weekend’s 903 entrants. The tournament required an $11,300 overlay to match the posted guarantee.

Shawn “phatcat” Luman barely missed snagging a seat at the final table when he went out on the bubble. He had become severely shortstacked when he pushed all in preflop with pocket eights and ran into an even shorter stack’s pocket queens. The queens held up and he had just $27,000 left when the big blind was at $12,000. He pushed all in from under the gun in the very next hand and was called by poker pro Jon “PearlJammer” Turner, who showed big slick suited. The A-K held up versus phatcat’s Q-J offsuit and phatcat was out in 10th place, earning $1,000.

PearlJammer made the final table of the tournament with a formidable second-place-worthy stack of $425,000. He was second to Papi Shamrock, who held $779,000 in chips. Papi Shamrock steadily lost ground until he was down to just $183,000 during fourhanded play, when the big blind was at $40,000. In his final hand, the action folded to PearlJammer in the small blind who raised all in for $949,000. Papi Shamrock called all in and showed K 2 and was up against PearlJammer’s dominating K 8. The flop brought blanks and the turn brought an 8, leaving Papi Shamrock drawing dead. He went out in fourth place, for $6,500.

PearlJammer had the lead when threehanded play began with $1.1 million in chips versus Henge in second with $685,000 and mmm10167 in third with $385,000. In the first big hand of threehanded play, PearlJammer limped preflop from the small blind and mmm10167 checked his option. The flop came K 9 8 and PearlJammer bet $64,000. Mmm10167 raised all in for $385,000. PearlJammer thought before calling and showing K-4 for top pair and was dominated by mmm10167’s K-8 for two pair. The turn was a blank and the river was a now irrelevant 4, and PearlJammer was down to $671,000 in third place. Henge was slightly ahead of PearlJammer, still at $685,000, and mmm10167 was the new chip leader at $862,000.

Mmm10167’s chip lead didn’t last long, however, as Henge brutalized both of his opponents and built his stack up to $1.1 million. PearlJammer was dragging behind at under $400,000 at the time. Some well-timed all-in pushes boosted PearlJammer back into the 10-big-blinds range when the big blind was at $60,000.

Mmm10167’s all-in push wasn’t as well-timed when he pushed for $401,000 preflop in the small blind and was called by Henge in the big blind. Henge showed pocket eights and was handily dominating mmm10167’s 8 5. The flop brought the case 8 and with A 10 8 and mmm10167 could only hope to tie for the pot with running aces or tens. The turn was a blank, however, and he was eliminated in third place ($9,000).

Henge then had $1.6 million compared to PearlJammer’s $625,000 when heads-up play began. PearlJammer made short work of this chip-gap in the very first hand of the heads-up match. Henge pushed all in preflop and PearlJammer quickly called all in and showed A K and was dominating Henge’s A 2. The flop brought an ace and the turn brought a king, giving PearlJammer two pair and doubling him up to $1.3 million. Henge was left with a still-formidable stack of $967,000 after the hand.

The match was close, but PearlJammer was in the lead for the final hand. Henge ($889,000) raised to $180,000 preflop, with the big blind still at $60,000, and PearlJammer ($1.3 million) reraised all in. Henge called all in and showed A 6 and was ahead against PearlJammer’s K J. Ahead, that is, until the flop came K Q 2, giving PearlJammer top pair for the lead. The turn was the 9 and the river the 3 and Henge was eliminated in second place, earning $14,000. PearlJammer pocketed $25,000 for his first-place finish in the tournament.

The final results were:

1) Jon “PearlJammer” Turner - $25,000
2) Henge - $14,000
3) mmm10167 - $9,000
4) Papi Shamrock - $6,500
5) JoeJuno - $5,400
6) Reinhart - $4,400
7) Bluffer08 - $3,400
8) JC 78 S00ted - $2,400
9) chaos0Nriver - $1,550
