FTOPS Beats Out Yet Another Guarantee With Pot-Limit Omaha Eight-or-Better Event
Full Tilt Online Poker Series IV Event No. 7: $100,000-Guaranteed Pot-Limit Omaha Eight-or-Better
Event No. 7 of the Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) IV, like all of the events before it, had no trouble at all trouncing its posted guarantee. The event, a $200 buy-in pot-limit Omaha eight-or-better tournament, had 930 entrants to build a prize pool of $186,000, 86 percent again as much as guaranteed.
Scott “emptyseat88” Fischman barely snuck into the money in the tournament, after having held a good-sized stack through much of the early portion of the tournament. He lost ground and finished in 90th place ($335) out of 90 paying places. Also in the money was Internet notable Gary “GB2005” Bogdanski (who won the FTOPS best all-around player award in the FTOPS II, earning a custom avatar). GB2005 eventually busted out in 47th place, for $502.
Some prominent players made the final table, as well, including IBluffUOut4, who made the final table at both the PokerStars Sunday Million and the Full Tilt $400,000 guarantee simultaneously on April 8, 2007, and Cardsharps_net, who has actually already won an event in this series, the H.O.S.E. event, where he earned almost $33,000. IBluffUOut4 finished the tournament in seventh place ($5,580) while Cardsharps_net almost took down his second tournament at the FTOPS IV before eventually losing heads up to ArgentinaBoy. Cardsharps_net earned $26,970 for second place and ArgentinaBoy took the $42,780 top prize. He also won an exclusive gold FTOPS jersey avatar for his accomplishment.
