LAS VEGAS (AP) - Golden Gaming Inc., a casino company with operations in Nevada and Colorado, said it is buying the Pahrump Nugget Hotel & Gambling Hall.
The privately held company based in Las Vegas said Tuesday it has agreed to buy the facility for an undisclosed price from Generation 2000 LLC.
The deal must be approved by Nevada gambling regulators.
The Pahrump Nugget was built in 2001 and features 70 guest rooms, 553 slot machines, 10 table games, a sports book, poker room, restaurants, bowling alleys and banquet space.
The purchase will make Golden Gaming one of the largest employers in Nye County with about 300 people on the payroll, it said.
Golden Gaming operates three casinos in Black Hawk, Colo. and is Nevada's largest tavern operator with 43 establishments under the name PT's Gold and PT's Pub. It also operates some 2,500 slot machines at more than 200 locations throughout Nevada.
Wynn pays $16 million for rights to revamp 'Le Reve'
LAS VEGAS (AP) - Casino mogul Steve Wynn's flagship resort, Wynn Las Vegas, will pay $15.9 million to buy the rights to its headline show "Le Reve" from creator Franco Dragone to add lights, lasers and perhaps more performers.
The sum, revealed in a filing by Wynn Resorts Ltd. to the Securities Exchange Commission on Tuesday, will pay for "substantially all rights in and to the show and to repay certain unreimbursed excess production costs," the filing said.
The move came as competition for entertainment dollars on the Las Vegas Strip intensified.
Ingrid Jensen, marketing adviser for Dragone's company, Productions du Dragon S.A., said Wynn asked Dragone personally to make the changes but Dragone was too busy with other projects, such as the Montreal-based show "Le Graal," to take them on.
"Le Reve," which is performed in a specially built 2,087-seat theater in the round has been profitable, Jensen said. The show and theater cost $110 million to start up, she said.
But stiff competition prompted Wynn to plan to "invest a significant amount of money" to make the show "bigger," she said.
"He's talking about some visual effects with lasers and lighting and so forth," she said.
