I think I am driving to N.C. for one of these lottery tickets! Everyone is winning!

North Carolinians have been able to play the Powerball jackpot game in their home state for less than two weeks and already two local players have seen the big bucks.
A woman from Pink Hill won $200,000 in Wednesday’s drawing, soon after Haywood Mercer, also of Pink Hill, won the same amount in last Saturday’s game.
The latest winner wishes to remain anonymous and refused a request for an interview from The Free Press.
According to Susan Wright of the North Carolina Education Lottery Commission, the woman spent $5 on Powerball tickets. After taxes, she will receive $136,000.
She works in Kinston and purchased her prize-winning ticket from the Friendly Mart convenience store on N.C. 11.
B.J. Thigpen, an employee of Friendly Mart, said the lottery commission hasn’t said anything about how, if at all, the winning will affect the store.
“We really don’t know anything,” said Thigpen. She did say that the ticket was sold by Amy Thigpen and that as word has gotten out, the employees have answered a lot of questions about the winning ticket.
