Pinnacle names Legacy Building for Embassy Suites work

Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. said Tuesday that it selected Legacy Building Group LLC as the general contractor for the renovation of the former Embassy Suites Hotel at its Lumière Place, its $430 million casino resort under construction in downtown St. Louis.
The property temporarily closed for the initial construction work last month. The $16 million renovation project includes the refurbishment of the nearly 300 guest suites and atrium lobby, and a new porte cochere. Pinnacle said it expects to reopen the hotel late this year as The Suites at Lumière Place.
Todd Weaver, president of Legacy, said in a statement, "Pinnacle is making a significant investment in St. Louis and we are honored to be a part of that excitement."
A sky bridge will link the renovated property to the second floor of Lumière Place, just above the casino floor.
The Legacy Building Group is a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) construction company that specializes in the design/build market.
The Minority Inclusion Alliance delayed its planned shutdown in April of Pinnacle Entertainment's downtown casino construction site pending the outcome of a meeting with the casino operator's president, Wade Hundley.
The alliance has targeted the Las Vegas-based company's Lumiere Place project downtown as being behind in reaching what it says are St. Louis' goals of 25 percent minority and 5 percent female inclusion.
In early May, Pinnacle Entertainment announced that the second, new-construction hotel at Lumière Place will be a Four Seasons hotel. Lumiere Place is expected to be open for business by the end of this year.
Construction also is under way for Pinnacle's new $375 million River City Casino & Hotel in Lemay, Mo., which is scheduled to open in late 2008.
Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. (NYSE: PNK) is a Las Vegas-based company that owns and operates casinos in Nevada, Louisiana, Indiana and Argentina. |
