Milwaukee’s Potowatomi Bingo Casino is following in the footsteps of the Indian casinos on the coasts, and by 2008, bingo will no longer be the primary draw. In August of 2006, builders broke ground on a $240 million expansion that will add 500,000 square feet of entertainment space, most of it devoted to gaming. The casino is adding 100 additional table games—including, of course, a poker room. Other additions include two new restaurants and a multi-story parking garage with a bridge over to the casino.
Casino management believes this high-ticket revamp will make the Potowatomi “a premier tourism destination” within the state. It will also create 1,000 jobs in the casino and an additional 4,000 in the community.
