Dice Games: The Game of 21

Many people enjoy playing the game of 21 because it is the dice version of the ever popular casino game of blackjack. While blackjack is played with cards – sometimes multiple decks — the dice version of the game, appropriately called 21 since that is the number that players aim for in blackjack, is played only with a single die. This makes the concept of the game very simple and easy to follow for most players.

More about 21

The object of the dice version of blackjack is very similar to how the card version of the game is played. Players will designate how many times the die can be rolled before game play. Then each player will roll the die that many number of times in order to see who can come closest to reaching 21 once all the points are totaled. Anyone whose points add up to over 21 will be considered bust and will be eliminated from the game.

Yet if the number 21 is not reached by any member playing the game, then the person with the closest number to 21 after all the points have been totaled will win the game and the jackpot associated with it. If there is a tie, then the players holding the equal numbers will participate in a play off.

Using Two Dice

For players wishing to speed up the pace of the game, they can use two dice instead of a single die. After the player has totaled 14 or more, one of the dice will be thrown out, and play will continue again with a single die.

Other Versions

There are also longer versions of the game where the object is to reach 36. Players should also note that anyone who busts or is eliminated early from the game will generally throw in an additional unit or amount of money to the pot for other players to win. While the object of the game is obviously very similar to the card version of blackjack, 21 can still provide some variety and excitement to those looking for a simple game to enjoy.
