Just another poker table? Maybe not.

There is a large variety of poker tables available both online and off, since the recent explosion Poker, Texas Holdem especially, you can find a poker table for sale at almost any large variety type store, including Bed Bath and Beyond and your local Wal-Mart!

There are several types and styles available, including fold up poker tables, that are inexpensive, and convenient, perfect for taking to a friends, easy storage, or the many bar leagues popping up across the United states.

There are much nicer tables available on offer as well, some made from Oak, Birch and other fine words. These tables are considerably more expensive than the afore mentioned fold up models, much heavier, therefore not as handy for a traveling poker prowess, and can become scratched, requiring a bit more upkeep, however, for those design savvy poker hosts, as serious about the appearance of the game, as the game itself, these are a great option.

Most common are the felt options, great for absorbing the sound of chips clashing against the table, sliding cards smoothly across the table, without them landing on the floor, and adding that poker room look and feel to any home game!

The felt is another subject entirely however, if you buy a table with cheap low quality felt, you will have little fuzz balls across your poker table in no time at all. The fuzz balls are the least of your worries however, and can be taken care of with a quick vacuuming, the cheaper the felt the faster you will have tears and worn marks showing on top of your new poker table.

Most poker players no better than to place drinks or food on a poker table, in a casino environment it is simply not allowed, however at your home game, obviously this is entirely up to you and your friends. Cup holders can be either a blessing or a hindrance depending upon the group, for bar leagues they are definitely recommended, as the poker table tends to be the only table available, and most bar leagues are in business to encourage the purchase of beverages.

For home games, or other smaller events, chairs with cup holders may be the perfect solution to keeping the drinks easily accessible, yet off of the table. Some tables also offer cup holders underneath the table. A little trickier to get to, but at least falling drinks will land on the floor, rather than the cards.

If there are any other pertinent thoughts regarding the purchase of a poker table, feel free to add them here.

Good Luck, both purchasing your table, and scraping the chips across it in your direction!
