BREAKING SPORTS NEWS: Quarter Horse Challenge Championships coming to Evangeline Downs in 2008
Evangeline Downs Racetrack and Casino announced today that is had been chosen to host the 2008 Quarter Horse Challenge Championships.
The Challenge Championships of the Bank of America Racing Challenge will be held the first or second week of November 2008 at Evangeline Downs in Opelousas.
This will be a season-long series of qualifying races run across 11 regions in the United States, Canada, Mexico and South America.
The regional finalists meet at the Challenge Championships, which is a single night of racing worth more than $1.1 million in purses.
The first Challenge Championship took palce in 1993. This will be the first time the event is held in Louisiana.
American Quarter Horses compete in one of six different types of races throughout the year and the winners of each of these races receive an automatic starting position in the Challenge Championships, a $5 million purse and bonus rewards program. The Quarter Horse Racing Challenge is racing’s richest program. |
