NITRO, W.Va. -- Union workers at Tri-State Racetrack and Gaming Center have rejected a contract proposed by track management.
The dog track's 189 union workers will stay on the job under a contract extension when the current agreement expires at 4 a.m. Wednesday, said Ron Brady, president of United Steelworkers Local 14164.
"The members spoke ... (the contract) was less than we hoped for," Brady said after Monday's vote.
The union represents about one-third of the track's staff, including tellers, housekeepers, floor attendants, dog handlers and maintenance workers.
