Rank Sells Lord Lucan's Favourite London Casino

The Clermont Club, the casino that was once a haunt of Lord Lucan, has been sold by its British owners to an Asian investment group. Leisure company Rank said yesterday its Grosvenor Casinos subsidiary had received £31m for the London club from Singapore's BIL International.

The sale of the club, built in 1742 and acquired by Rank in 1990, is part of Rank's strategy to focus on mainstream gaming and make the most of gambling law changes. It is also considering selling the Hard Rock Cafe chain and has already disposed of its Butlins holiday camps, Pinewood film studios and Odeon Cinemas.
