Dennis Mebane won $100,000 playing a scratch-off ticket from the North Carolina Education Lottery, the lottery group announced today.
Mebane and his son traveled from Reidsville to Raleigh on Tuesday to collect his prize, which totaled $68,000 after taxes.
Mebane is the third $100,000 winner of the lottery's instant scratch-off game "Winner Take All." He purchased his winning ticket at Huff Barnes Street #211 store in Reidsville.
He normally bought tickets at a country store about a mile from his home. But it was closed because the merchant was on vacation.
Mebane, who has driven long distance trucks for 30 years, said he has played the lottery for years in other states.
Mebane said he plans to share his winnings with his two sons, pay bills, and take a vacation. Seven $100,000 prizes remain in "Winner Take All."
