Local casinos posted increased revenue in August compared to a year ago.
The monthly report on casino revenue released Friday by the Illinois Gaming Board showed a 5.3 percent increase at all nine of the states casinos.
Harrah's Joliet Casino & Hotel posted a 9.2 percent increase at $28.9 million in revenue for the month.
The Empress Casino in Joliet saw a 4.4 percent increase at $21.9 million.
Harrah's also generated double digit increases in admissions at both of its Illinois casinos: 19.9 percent in Joliet and 26 percent in Metropolis.
More than 234,000 gamblers came through the entrance at Harrah's Joliet in August, the highest number among the state's casinos.
Harrah's, however, remained No. 2 in casino revenue behind the Elgin Grand Victoria, which generated $36 million.
Empress was No. 4, with just $4,000 less revenue than Hollywood Casino in Aurora. Both Empress and Hollywood are owned by Penn National Gaming.
