Burton Cummings, born in Winnipeg, played with the Devrons before joining the Guess Who as lead vocalist in 1965. Cummings spent ten years with that band where he wrote and, with Randy Bachman, co-wrote most of the band’s biggest hits. After leaving for a solo career, he released a self-titled album in 1976. The single, "Stand Tall," was an international hit reaching No. 2 on The Billboard Hot 100 and selling over a million copies. The album along with its follow-up the next year, My Own Way To Rock, both reached Double Platinum. His third solo album, Dream Of A Child, became the first Canadian album to achieve Triple Platinum. His numerous hits include “My Own Way to Rock,” “Break It To Them Gently” and “I Will Play a Rhapsody.”
