Natalie Cole

Friday, June 08, 2007 & Saturday, June 09, 2007
River Rock Show Theatre

Natalie Cole, the daughter of the late great Nat “King” Cole, first made her own good name with a series of fine albums for Capitol Records in the 70s and early 80s that found her working with the writing and producing team of Marvin Yancy and Chuck Jackson. Albums like Inseparable, Natalie, Thankful and Unpredictable included an impressive stream of hit songs including no less than five #1 hits on the Black Singles chart: “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love),” “Inseparable,” “Sophisticated Lady (She’s A Different Lady),” “I’ve Got Love On My Mind” and “Our Love.” In 1975, Cole won a Grammy for Best New Artist as well as the award for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. The next year, she won Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for “Sophisticated Lady (She’s A Different Lady).” During the remainder of the 80s after leaving Capitol, Cole worked with a number of different labels and producers and continued to record more hits like “Miss You Like Crazy” and a left-field smash cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “Pink Cadillac” that effectively reinvented a retro rocker into a major dance smash.

Average White Band

Show Starts at 08:00 PM
Friday, June 15, 2007
River Rock Show Theatre

Average White Band – three words synonymous with the very best in funk and soul music. Since their first legendary gigs at The Marquee in London when word went out that something new and wonderful from Scotland was afoot to the Eric Clapton “comeback” concert which featured the Band as support and presented them to the world’s assembled music bigwigs, their rise to fame was inevitable. The debut album, Show Your Hand, was released in 1973 with little fuss or fanfare but it quickly garnered a solid fan base in the UK. They went on to record another five hit albums for Atlantic, two for Arista and two for RCA (one of which spawned the 1980 hit “Let’s Go Round Again”) while receiving three separate Grammy nominations. The sound of Average White Band is unmistakable.
