In Weber County, Utah, people are gambling - or maybe they're not. It depends on how you look at it. At Riverdale Dinner and Bingo Club, people pay only for snacks and drinks, and every time they buy snacks and drinks, they receive "credits" to play on a video bingo machine. If they win at a machine, they win real money. They cannot play if they do not pay - for those snacks and drinks. Bingo fans (and Food and bingo club owners) call it a perfectly legal loophole - some state and county officials call it "questionable".
It's pretty safe to assume that there will never be any type of gambling in Utah without some sort of controversy, but that isn't stopping residents from taking advantage of whatever gambling is available, which is mainly bingo. And besides, people who visit say that they really do like the food at Riverdale Dinner and Bingo Club, and they like the friendly atmosphere. Video bingo machines have been siezed by officials in other places, though, so whether Riverdale Dinner and Bingo Club can keep giving local bingo fans what they want remains to be seen. Right now, though, everyone seems happy.
