Casino news from http://news.enquirer.com/ Halfway through the year, all three riverboat casinos of Southeast Indiana saw their winnings up from the same period in 2005, according to figures released Monday by the Indiana Gaming Commission. For the first six months of 2006, winnings - money lost by gamblers - were up 6 percent to $238 million at Lawrenceburg-based Argosy Casino, 1.1 percent to $80 million at Belterra Casino and 2.4 percent to $77 million at Rising Sun-based Grand Victoria Casino. In June, Belterra saw a slight dip of 0.7 percent in adjusted gross revenue to $13.3 million, while Argosy and Grand Victoria saw increases of 11.7 percent to $39.2 million and 14.8 percent to $13.2 million, respectively. While Argosy and Grand Victoria saw higher admissions during the first half of 2006, total gambling did not increase at the same rate. Although Belterra saw admissions ebb in the same period, total gambling dropped at a slower pace. Argosy saw admissions for the month climb 6.1 percent to 327,983 and 5.3 percent for the year to date to 2 million. In June, total betting was up 0.1 percent to $479.1 million and up for the year to date 0.4 percent to almost $3.1 billion. Belterra admissions were down 17.2 percent to 149,941 for the month and 6.3 percent to 929,163 for the year so far, while total gambling slid 11.4 percent to $152.3 million in June and 4.6 percent to $932 million for the year. Grand Victoria saw its admissions go up 16.5 percent to 169,964 in June and 7.1 percent to 957,166 so far this year, while total betting rose 15.7 percent to $153.2 million in June and 2.3 percent to $881.6 million during the first half of 2006.
