Slot Machines Delivered to Mount Airy Resort

The Mount Airy Resort Casino in Monroe County moves a step closer to being "in the money" with a major delivery today. WFMZ's Mike Lowe reports. The sound of slots.

"Delivery of the first slot machine in the Poconos."
Machines from the Midwest to Monroe County. The shipment comes from Chicago.

"They're transported here on a trailer."
Robert Cullen grabbed the first machine.
Cullen: "Luck of the draw. I was the closest to the truck, to be honest with you."

Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board officials were on hand
"We've now checked the serial numbers."

To check for signs of tampering.
Once serial numbers were verified, it was off to the casino floor.
"Brought it out here."
"Put it on its base."
) "Turned it on."

"Now my boys will get it configured, up and running."
"It's blinking, it must be right."
Gaming Board Commissioner Raymond Angeli is overseeing the project.
He visited a bare-bones Mt. Airy site a month ago.
"It didn't look anything like this."
The project is on schedule to open in mid-October.
"We're moving along very well."

"A lot has to happen between now an the opening of the casino."
More inspections
and the completion of the building.
"This is the casino floor. (Buzz) As you can hear, it's still under construction. Mt. Airy received 151 slot machines today ... over the next month, they'll get 25-hundred more."

"We'll be bringing machines in almost everyday." >> The 412-million dollar project will feature a hotel, restaurants and a nightclub. But officials expect the the slot machines to be the main attraction >> (18:59) "What we're gearing toward is a very entertaining environment."
