Coming soon to The Woodlands: 800 new ways to lose a quarter.
Kansas gambling regulators on Thursday approved 800 slot machines for the track in Kansas City, Kan., as part of the new law authorizing slots and destination casinos in the state.
The Wichita Greyhound Park will also get 800 machines, and a racetrack in southeast Kansas will get 600. An additional 600 slots could be distributed among the tracks later. Officials at The Woodlands say slots could be open to the public early next year.
The Kansas Lottery Commission, which oversees gambling operations, also agreed to give the Unified Government of Wyandotte County 90 extra days to receive and review applications to operate the casino approved for the county. Officials with the county expect a large number of applications. The county will now have until Dec. 31. |
