Slots license hearings likely in November
ROBERT B. SWIFT
HARRISBURG — The public licensing hearings for the two Pocono slots hopefuls will likely be held here in November, said top state gaming regulator Tad Decker Thursday.
Mount Airy Lodge in Paradise Township and Pocono Manor in Tobyhanna Township are competing for the two statewide "standalone" or Category 2 licenses available. They also face competition from four applicants outside the region in this category.
In accordance with the state Gaming Control Board's goal to take action on all 14 available slots licenses in December, the hearings in November on the potential Category 2 licensees will give members the opportunity to directly question applicants about their suitability to hold a state slots license. The hearings will be open to the public.
