Smokey Robinson Fri. April 4, 2008 - Sat. April 5, 2008 Smokey Robinson will be performing two shows in the Xanadu at Trump Taj Mahal on Fri., April 4 & Sat., April 5, 2008. Show time for Friday is at 9:00pm and 8:00pm on Saturday, doors will open one hour prior to show time each night. Ticket prices are $60.50 & $40.50. Smokey is a soul singer, producer, former record company executive, and songwriter. He is noted for being one of the primary figures associated with the Motown record label, second only to the company's founder, Berry Gordy. As both a member of Motown group The Miracles and a solo artist, Robinson recorded thirty-seven Top 40 hits for Motown between 1960 and 1987, and also served as the company's Vice President from 1961 to 1988. Dubbed "America’s greatest living poet" by Bob Dylan, Smokey Robinson has lived up to the accolade. His songwriting talents produced a continuous stream of top forty hits for The Miracles, a large inventory of songs for his solo career and material for Motown acts like The Temptations, Mary Wells and Marvin Gaye. He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on January 21, 1987. In December of the following year, he was named a Grammy Living Legend. Smokey was also inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame by Whitney Houston on May 30, 1990.
